A new phase of Shramik’s Livelihood

A new phase of Shramik’s Livelihood

Saksham, a socio-economic development initiative powered by TIFAC in association with SAPIO ANALYTICS to uplift the quality and standard of living of the shramiks, presently struggling to make ends meet & earn their livelihood amidst this pandemic. Essentially a job portal, Saksham works towards eliminating middlemen or mediators, thereby directly connecting lakhs of deserving workers to MSMEs. Through multitudinous skill mapping exercises, the applicants will be able to check the proficiency of their skillset, and also receive skill cards, a legitimate proof of the validity of their skills. It is a potent tool for MSMEs as well as the aspirants, catering to the needs and interests of both parties.

A team of highly specialized experts have worked to frame an online survey tool, for the purposes of data collection and a dashboard has been designed, to connect MSMEs with potential candidates closest to them, thus reducing migration costs drastically.

For the applicants, it’s a one-of-its-kind survey, encouraging a comfortable environment with a simplified evaluation. The shramiks/workers are connected to the platform with a WhatsApp Chat Bot because of the widespread use of the platform. Ease of use has been considered, and hence the platform is being made available in multiple languages. Long term predictions showcase that Saksham can identify skill gaps, which can be a beneficial tool, for India’s policymakers, thereby enabling them to make better and more efficient policies. Unlike any hypothetical approach, SAKSHAM- a very realistic and systematic way to help blue collared workers, more precisely to empower them. To let the Shramiks get connected to the MSMEs, it follows a very collocated process.

If you are at the end of MSME, you first need to register your industry/enterprise online to get your MSME registration number for further processes. This isn’t a cumbersome process; it can be easily done through https://udyamregistration.gov.in/Government-India/Ministry-MSME-registration.htm

After registering, you can get your MSME certificate. It requires some documents like Aadhaar card, rent agreement, property paper, cancelled cheque, company Registration i.e., Sale or Purchase Bill and PAN card, business Address proof, etc.

Talking about how this would benefit them, the list of benefits is quite long which follows:

Due to the MSME Registration, the bank loans become cheaper as the interest rate is very low around ~ 1 to 1.5%. Much lower than interest on regular loans.
It also allowed credit for minimum alternate tax (MAT) to be carried forward for up to 15 years instead of 10 years.
Once registered the cost of getting a patent done, or the cost of setting up the industry reduces as many rebates and concessions are available.
MSME registration helps to acquire government tenders easily as Udyam Registration Portal is integrated with Government e-Marketplace and various other State Government portals which give easy access to their marketplace and e-tenders.

There is a One Time Settlement Fee for non-paid amounts of MSME.

Whereas keeping in mind that many a times SHRAMIKS aren’t much backed by proper knowledge and guidance, TIFAC in collaboration with SAPIO ANALYTICS have kept their end as quite easy to access. They will be provided with skill cards too. All they need to do is to provide their details by either of the following:

Interestingly, this whole data will be backed by the DSS dashboard. The industries and the government officials will get the access to this live dashboard wherein they would be able to see the census of the migrant laborers available or waiting for a job based on their skill sets. The data would be uploaded so intricately that the dashboard will have numerous filters such as gender, occupation, field, etc. so as to make it easier for MSMEs to connect to the areas where they will meet the shramiks of the desired skill sets. The dashboard will contain numerous columns like Admin dashboard and Industry dashboard, where the admins or industries will be able to check their state wise and industry wise data through a highly efficient heat map plus statistical bar graphs with updated figures.

Further, the dashboard focuses on the granular level analysis of current situation of shramik of unorganized sectors by analyzing data on state level, city/district level and ward level and then identify the count of shramiks according to their skills and the belonging region.

The dashboard can be accessed easily by logging in through www.sakshamtifac.org
