ABOUT THE EVENT

Over the past few years, India has become one of the pioneers of technological and infrastructure developments. All around the world, but also within India, the emphasis is constantly on improving the scope and use of technology and on improving infrastructure planning and execution. Yet, one of the key differentiators of our nation, remains its deep rooted culture and rich history. Culture and Arts – are fields for which India is known around the world. However, there remain some significant gaps in the world’s knowledge about Indian art and culture.

The world has studied the history of Indian painting at its universities and museums, beginning with the coming to India of the Mughals and then the Europeans. The paintings of Ajanta of  the 5th century have been known but have been treated as a ”flash in the pan”, as India has not been known to have an indigenous tradition of ancient painting.

All this has changed with the pioneering photography of distinguished art historian Benoy K Behl. Behl has researched and documented several ancient Indian paintings, which were not visible to the world before, thus he has established a continuous tradition of painting in ancient and medieval India. He has also digitally restored these paintings to make them clearer for the viewers to appreciate. Sapi0 is now revealing this lost tradition of Indian art before the world!

Sapio Analytics, a government advisory firm is focussed on nation building products and processes. We recently deposited the unique Ajanta photograph of Shri Benoy K Behl at the Arctic World Archives, Norway. lt was our honour that the Hon. Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi recognized this work in the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme on 29th November 2020. Ajanta, is one of the jewels of Bharat. However, along with this, there are multiple other rich heritage sites which not only are fundamental in recognizing the richness of our nation but are also equally important in soft power and geo politics. These help to establish the cultural glory of our nation, not only limited to the period of Mughals but by showcasing the great ancient assets of our nation.

On the basis of the above factors, Sapio Analytics’ Heritage Restoration Division has taken up the mantle to digitize, restore, preserve and promote the rich heritage and assets of our nation, not only in India but globally. Our aim is to showcase to the world the real strength of our country. For the said purpose, we have already initiated our project on Ajanta Caves. ln order to establish the above claims, we have got support from one of the finest art historian Shri Benoy K Behl, whose works have been renowned amongst the global community. He has been invited by hundreds of the most important universities and museums of the world to lecture.
